The Ripple Project
The Ripple is a community organisation and registered charity established in 1996. Started by local people the Ripple harnesses the skills and enthusiasm of its dedicated volunteers to provide a wide range of well-used services in our community of Restalrig, Lochend & Craigentinny. Much of these areas are amongst the most deprived in Scotland and our community faces the challenges that poverty, health and social inequalities bring. The key to all that we do is the involvement of our wonderful team of volunteers of all ages and abilities who alongside our small staff team contribute so much to making life here better for everyone. Many project users have gone on to become volunteers and provide the help for others that they found here themselves – for us that is the true impact of the Ripple effect.
Commitment to digital participation:
The Ripple commits to working with local people to understand the impact on them of a digital by default approach in accessing services and then provide support to meet any skills gaps or needs through the organisations and volunteers so that local people are not further excluded from life chances, opportunities or services that could increase local inequalities.
We will continue to provide a supportive environment where local people can access peer support for their digital needs.
We will provide more formal learning sessions for local people to be able to access good quality digital education and practical support on their doorstep.
