Roxburgh & Berwickshire Citizens Advice Bureau

Organisation statement:

Roxburgh & Berwickshire Citizens Advice Bureau are a local, independent charity that provide free and confidential advice and information whoever you are and whatever your problem.
Because the Bureau is managed and used by people within the community, we deliver services that meet the needs of local people. We provide practical advice, negotiate on behalf of clients and even represent them formally, such as at tribunal hearings.
As well as helping people solve their problems, the Bureau provide anonymised statistics and information to Citizens Advice Scotland to identify things that cause people hardship and campaign for change.

Commitment to digital participation:

We will work with the most vulnerable in our community to ensure that individuals do not suffer through
ignorance of their rights and responsibilities or of the services available; or
through an inability to express their needs.
We will strive to deliver advice and support in a medium the clients can understand and assist them to develop the essential digital skills needed to progress with Welfare Benefit application and build confidence in managing their lives in the new digital era.

Support offered:

Each trainee adviser will undertake the online Adviser Training Programme, supported by experiences staff and volunteers.
We will work with local agencies to provide online access and support clients in making online applications, highlighting local courses to build on new and existing skills.

Support wanted:

We are always looking for volunteers to lend a hand within the Bureau. Whatever your skill, if you have free time we would love to hear from you.
