Third Sector category: Community, Social or Economic Development

Organisation statement:

Showcase the Street was formed in 2003 to support young people and communities in areas of deprivation through the use of the arts this has now extended to sports and most recently the use of technology and Virtual Reality. We have our own facility in Dundee spread across three warehouse units offering two indoor football pitches, dance studios, roller hockey rink, and in December, 2018, the addition of a Virtual Reality Centre.

Commitment to digital participation:

We develop the use of our Virtual Reality Centre to engage people in an innovative way to support their skills, learning and increase confidence. Our facility sits in one of the most deprived areas of Dundee and we will also support young people who are disengaged through their behaviour and attainment, as well as hard to reach and vulnerable families

Support offered:

Access to the Virtual Reality Centre and our partnership with Abertay Universities expertise to support people who are disengaged and require additional support

Support wanted:

More volunteers with a tech/VR background who can support our work to allow it to be easier to sustain
